Feedback

Once finishing our opening we decided to ask people what they thought and also get feedback to consider, we did try to work on some of this, but some we had used for effect.

Evaluation Question 7

Looking Back At Your Preliminary Task - What Do You Feel You Have Learnt In The Progression From It To Full Product?

When creating the Preliminary Task there were numerous elements we expected to involve. These were 180 degree rule, match on action and a shot reverse shot. We were then to write a script and create a story board. The task consisted of a minium of two charcaters in which one of the two had to enter a room and then the pair would have a conversation. Planning for this task made me realise how important plannign is. Ehen looking back on the Preliminary task we found that not enough planning had been doen and not enough detail was included. When going back to film we weren't too sure what we actually wanted to do but foudn at the time of planning we knew what we meant. We had to then do more research and planning to assure that the task was correct. Knowing this we made sure that when planning for our final piece everything was done in as much detail as possible. We also made sure everything was promped days before shooting so we could come across as little problems as possible.

When filming our Preliminary task we werent completely sure in what to include in an opening. We thought the filiming would be a lot easier than it actually was, therefore we didnt do a pratice shoot. However realised after that we should have to get ideas and prefect our final shots. Using the experience from the preliminary task we decided to do practice shots when filming our final film opening. We tried to us locations that we knew would be quite and empty so there was no distractions.

Once we had filming we came to the editing stages of our task. We found that we knew very little about the software and how to use the differen the different effects. Looking at our finished preliminary task we discovered that it didnt flow very well and look unprofessional. Taking into account all we knew about the previous time we had edited before editing our final piece together we took the practice shots and each attempted to edit them, gettting to know the software. This made it a whole lot easier to then edit our actual shots because we were all familiar with the premier pro software.

Overall filming the task helped us out a lot as we were able to make the mistakes needed to make before we took action on our final piece. We all felt confident in what we were doing and what we needed to include. In the progression from the preliminary task to our final task we have all learnt numerou things that contribute to our opening. It showed us how prepared you need to be when planning to aviod time consuming mistakes being made. Also it helped us to further understand how a filmopening should look and how to edit everything together. Of course we still made mistakes during our final piece, however they were easily overcame and in our controll. Although our final piece wasnt perfected from doing the preliminary task it allowed us to understand the task better and definatly made a differnece to our final grade.
