Once finishing our opening we decided to ask people what they thought and also get feedback to consider, we did try to work on some of this, but some we had used for effect.

Assesment - WWE & EBI

What Went Well: -

Research
Research into our specific genre went well. We did enough to gain the understanding we needed to then be able to make our opening genre specific.
Planning
We planned out our time well and knew when we were shooting and made sure we had enough time to get it all done. We ended up with more shots and scenes than we needed.
Production and Editing
Filming the actual opening went well; we all took turns in filming different scenes. This way we all contributed to the filming process. Same as filming, when editing we all took turns to have a go at using the software. We also all took time out of our own time to make sure the editing got finished.

Even Better If: -

Research
Although we did enough research to gain understanding we could have done more research into film openings as a whole instead of just romance ones.
Planning
Although we managed our time well by creating a schedule we made changes to our story board in the filming process. This created an issue as we then needed to come up with a whole new order in which to put the shots in. Therefore we should have created alternatives to use in our story board in case we did end up changing our minds.
Production and Editing
When editing we could have done more together to then talk about changes we wanted to make.

Improvements to Opening of 'Face Off'

Improvements to Face Off powerpoint:

    nshuttle6 October 2013 09:17

WWW: Clear information given, about the conventions shown in the opening and you begin to say why they have been used.
EBI: Try to always develop your analysis to say why these features have been used - ie. why they have only used the carousel as the setting - link to innocence, family, children, happiness etc - to highlight the danger, sadness.

NSE

Improvement:

My first powerpoint of face off was very brief. Knowing this i decided to re-do the hole powerpoint. When doing this i made sure i went into as much delail as possible. I also added picture examples to also go into further detail. I went into more depth on the setting and why its used the way it is and also themes.

Improvements on Todorov's Theory

Improvements, Just Go with it

nshuttle31 October 2013 10:50

WWW: You have applied the theory well and recognised all different elements of the stages through the film you have chosen.
EBI: State how each section of Just Go with It shows the stages.
SBT

Improvements:

1. This shows the first stage of Todorov's theory by showing us an normal everyday life and how things are everyday, the natural order.
2. This part of the film shows how the things have turned and are no longer how they used to be. Normality has been disrupted by and event.
3. This shows Danny recognising what has gone wrong and what he needs to do in order to return to normality.
4. This shows Katherine and her children going along with the plan and attempting to repair the damage. Also when things don't go as well as planned in the attempt to repair Danny steps in and works with the plan too.
5. Even thought things didn't work out the way they were plan normality was still restore the way it was before instead of a new equilibrium. The characters get back to there normal lives.

This explains the stages further in each part of Todorov's Theory and gives a further understanding of how each stage is shown in 'Just go with it'.
